A hearing impaired person from the city was presented the National Award of Role Model for the Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities.

The award, carrying a citation, was presented to K Murali, Director, Deaf Leaders Foundation, by President Pranab Mukherjee on 3 December at a function in Delhi. Murali is involved in rehabilitating and imparting training for persons with disabilities for the last 36 years.

Murali is also involved in promoting the Indian sign language, a release from the Foundation said today.
