Joining the band wagon, members of the People Welfare Front, DMDK and TMC alliance have petitioned the District Collector and District Electoral Officer Archana Patnaik seeking the detention of Returning Officer of the South Constituency, P. Gandhimathi for ferrying money in her vehicle to be distributed to voters.

Members of various opposition parties have already lodged a complaint with the Election Commission, alleging that Ganthimathi was helping the AIADMK cadre to distribute money and also added that she was using her vehicle for carrying money.

They further alleged that money was being distributed in Coimbatore by the AIADMK without trouble with the help of the election officials.

Filing another petition on Thursday, members of the PWF alliance submitted another petition with Archana Patnaik seeking actions against the parties and the officials who were helping them.

Meanwhile, members of the BJP complained that Thondamuthur MLA and Minister S.P. Velumani was distributing money in his constituency without trouble alleging that it was against the constitution and rights of the people.

“We can stop this with the help of our party men. But since this is a law and order situation, we are moving legally and ethically,” said a member.
