Coimbatore is set to make a significant mark on India’s tourism landscape as it prepares to host the prestigious SKAL India National Congress 2026 for the first time. The official launch of the national tourism and hospitality summit was unveiled on Sunday at the luxurious The Residency Towers.
Organized by SKAL International Coimbatore, the four-day national conference will be held from August 12 to 15, 2026, at Le Meridien Coimbatore. The event is expected to attract tourism, travel, and hospitality leaders, industry experts, and stakeholders from across India and abroad.
The launch ceremony was attended by chief guest T. Srinivasan, along with distinguished guests including Satheesh K.S.,T.Jegatheeswari, and Sundar Singaram.Addressing the media, Sanjeev Mehra, S.N.S. Mohan, Ramesh Chandrakumar, P.K. Ganesh, and Nijo Augustine highlighted the strategic significance of the congress for Tamil Nadu’s tourism sector.
They noted that the summit will serve as a major platform to showcase Tamil Nadu’s rich cultural heritage, tourist attractions, cuisine, and hospitality strengths to a national and international audience. A key objective of the event is to position Coimbatore and its surrounding destinations prominently on the global tourism map, boosting visitor arrivals and investment opportunities.
Delegates attending the three-night, four-day congress will experience the region’s unique culinary traditions, heritage sites, and tourism offerings. The conference will also feature discussions on critical issues shaping the future of the tourism industry, including sustainable development, environmental conservation, responsible tourism, community participation, and heritage preservation.
With 25 active SKAL clubs across the country, SKAL India plays a vital role in connecting hoteliers, travel professionals, restaurateurs, tourism stakeholders, and hospitality education institutions. Organizers expressed confidence that the event will strengthen Coimbatore’s reputation as one of India’s emerging tourism and hospitality destinations.
