COIMBATORE: Residents of Karumathampatti have appealed to the District Collector T.N. Hariharan to initiate steps against the sale of illicit liquor and ganja in their area.
In their petition, they said liquor and ganja were being sold in some tea shops and bakeries. They also presented a proof in the form of a video that showed the brisk sale.
“Ever since we staged a protest against functioning of TASMAC outlets in our locality, the sale came down. However, it is being sold through bakeries and tea shops near Somanur Railway over bridge, Shenguthurai and Vagarampalayam.

Police have not taken any action in spite of our repeated complaints,” they said and urged him to take action in this regard.
