S. Gurumurthy, the former BJP member whose nomination from the Nilgiris S.C. constituency was rejected during the recent Lok Sabha polls, has joined the AIADMK, in the presence of party supreme J. Jayalalithaa here in Coimbatore.

S Gurumurthy’s nomination was rejected due to the delay in filing the required B-form, has joined the AIADMK last night, after Jayalalithaa addressed an election meeting in Coimbatore.

According to Gurumurthy, despite receiving the forms well in advance from his party, he failed to file it on time because his vehicle ran into trouble on the day of filing. But the BJP said that he took crores of Rupees from the AIADMK as bribe to not contest because the latter was keen on defeating DMK’s A. Raja, of the 2G infamy. The AIADMK won the seat.

The BJP had constituted an inquiry into the episode, but no report was submitted.
