Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation officials disconnected about 122 illegal water connections in five zones of the Corporations.

The license of the plumber, Murali, who allegedly collected money from some of the residents of ward 42 and 45 for the connections, was cancelled. The residents were asked to file a police complaint with the respective police stations before they apply for a new connection.

Speaking to The Covai Post, Corporation Commissioner K. Vijayakarthikeyan said the ongoing drive against illegal connection will continue and those involved in the malpractice be held accountable.

“The residents have fallen prey to the avarice of the unscrupulous elements in every ward and every zone,” he said.
When the officials went to disconnect the water connection, the residents were in for a shock as they were unaware that they have been taken for a ride by unscrupulous elements within the system.
