Coimbatore- Crafts Council of Tamil Nadu – CCTN was inaugurated in the year 1988, in Coimbatore. Our main objective is to promote and preserve the craft traditions of our state and country. To that effect we provide help in areas of design development, packaging and marketing.
“Crafts Bazaar” is conducted every year in Coimbatore, for craftspeople from all over India to showcase and sell their crafts, to a large number of customers. Art, craft and textiles under one roof provides ample opportunity for the public to interact and buy directly from the craftsmen.
“Nambikkai” meaning hope / belief in Tamil, is an initiative by CCTN to support a group of artisans, by the way of their travel, logistics and participation at the Bazaar. This initiative was started in the year 2023. This year we have “Saragalaya” a craft cluster from Kerala with their Theyyam masks, screw pine craft, para and terracotta sculptures.
“Buriya Trust” from Tiruvannamalai, a cluster for Lambadi embroidery. CCTN is working with them in the area of design development and marketing, hoping to bring more women to practise this craft, thus enabling them financially.
