Coimbatore : M Ravi, father of deceased DSP R Vishnupriya, today appeared before Chief Judicial Magistrate Court here, following summons in connection with his daughter’s case, which was closed by CBI.

Vishnupriya, who was investigating the murder of Dalit youth Gokulraj, was found dead hanging in her house in Tiruchengode on September 18, 2015, and the case was handed over to CBI.

However, CBI submitted its report to the High Court on April 16 for closure of the case, citing that there was no evidence to prove that it was murder. The agency felt it was a case of suicide. Based on this, the CJM issued summons to Ravi to appear before the court so that he could file his opinion or objections if any.

Ravi later said he had not received the copy of CBI report in full and would decide his future course of action later. However, he said he objected to the closure of case and CBI needed to investigate deep and further.

The case was posted to May 24.
