District administration warns of action against illegal water drawing from Parambikulam canal

The Coimbatore district administration has warned of stern action against those who draw water illegally from the Parambikulam main canal.

“Equipment used to draw water form the canals will be seized and case will be filed against those who are involved in the act,” a statement from the district administration said.

“Water will be released from the Thirumoorthy Dam to 94,362 acres of irrigation land till Karamadai area (that come under the third zone irrigation) from September 3 under the Parambikulam – Aliyar Project. Stern action will be taken against those who draw water illegally from the main dam or its branches. Power supply will also be disconnected to those involved in the act,” the statement added.

The administration has urged public to cooperate with the district administration in ensuring smooth supply of water.
