Dmk functionary rearrested for jumping conditional bail

Coimbatore: Dalapathi Murugesan, who was arrested in connection with the protest during a raid on illegal gutka manufafcturing unit on the city outskirts and released on bail, was today arrested for jumping the bail and remanded to custody till May 25.

Murugesan, a former panchayat president of Kannampalayam, was among the seven DMK cadres, who were arrested for staging protest seeking fair probe in the gutka sam, during the raids on the unit in the area on April 27.

All the seven were granted conditional bail, for which they have to report and sign at Sulur Policec station daily.

However, Murugesan failed to report at the station for the last three days and acting on this, police nabbed him last night in Chennai and brought here this morning.

He was produced before Sulur Judicial Magistrate, C Vediyappan, who remanded him to custody till May 25.
