Angered by the use of actor Vijay’s name for various events by a particular organisation in Coimbatore, the members of the Vijay Narpani Iyakkam, the official fan club of the actor, have petitioned the Commissioner of Police, A. Amalraj, seeking its closure.
According to V. Sambath Kumar, district president of the Vijay Narpani Iyakkam, the Indian Foundation has been conducting various events like parties, using the name of Vijay, in and around Coimbatore.
“They conduct cultural events by collecting money in the name of social activities. One such event that was conducted last week ended in a tussle,” he said.
He further added that the proprietor of the organisation, John Amalan, has been allegedly cheating people for money, promising them an opportunity to take pictures with actor Vijay.
Claiming that their organisation had stopped, with the help of the police, a night party organised at a hotel in Singanallur, Sambath Kumar added that John Amalan and his group must be banned from using actor Vijay’s name for his public activities.
“We are the only authentic organisation that can conduct any event under Vijay’s name, and we are directly being monitored by Vijay. But fake organisations like these are only damaging the reputation of our hero,” added Sambath Kumar.
