Collector A. Annadurai released the draft photo electoral rolls at the collectorate in the presence of the representatives of all the recognised political parties.

As per the draft, the district has 18,94, 675 voters including 9,62,732 women and 55 transgenders. Thanjavur constituency tops the chart with 2,68,033 voters.

The number of voters in other assembly segments are: Thiurvidaimarudur – 2,34,162, Kumbakonam – 2,46,616, Papanasam – 2,40,236, Thiurvaiyar – 2,47,956, Orathanad – 2,25,038, Pattukottai – 2,27,222 and Peravurani – 2,05,402.

As directed by the Election Commission of India, revision of draft electoral rolls would be undertaken from September 1 to 30 to include the names of all eligible voters who had completed 18 years of age in the electoral rolls. Special camps would be held on September 9 and 25 for accepting applications, collector Annadurai said.

Eligible voters should submit the forms in person or through one of their family members. Forms submitted otherwise would not be accepted.

The revised list would be placed in the offices of revenue divisional officers, tahsildars and all the 2175 polling booths for public view from today. All those who are eligible to vote have been asked to check their status and hence apply for inclusion of their names in the appropriate applications.
