EC appoints new DGP, transfers five district collectors

In a series of ongoing reshuffles prior to the state elections, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has appointed a new Director General of Police (DGP), and has transferred five district collectors.

The EC has appointed Dr. Sylendra Babu has been appointed as ADGP Law and Order. The Chennai City Police Commissioner has been transferred. He is replaced by the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Enforcement, Ashutosh Shukla. K.P. Maghendhran takes charge as the new Director-General of Police (Elections) of Tamil Nadu. He was previously the DGP, Police Training College.

Five IAS officers were also shifted and posted as collectors of Karur, Tiruvarur, Tiruvannamalai, Tirunelveli, and Pudukottai.

Kakarla Usha, the Managing Director of Tamil Nadu Urban Infrastructure Financial Services Ltd., has been brought in as Senior Collector of Karur, as a replacement of T.P. Rajesh. T.N. Venkatesh replaces Dr. M. Mathivanan as Collector of Tiruvarur, and Pooja Kulkarni and C. Samayamoorthy were appointed as collectors of Thiruvanamalai and Thirunelveli districts respectively.

Also transferred were three IPS officers, including Karan Sinha, from Additional Director General of Police, Crime Branch-CID, who was made the Additional Director General of Police, Intelligence. The post was previously held by K.N. Sathiyamurthy.
