Elderly woman killed at Selvapuram, 17 sovereigns missing

An elderly woman was found dead in her house at Selvapuram yesterday.

According to police, Rammayi Ammal C (75) was living alone at her house in Devendra Street, Selvapuram. Her husband Chinnasamy predeceased her and her two sons and five daughters were living at different places.

Police said that yesterday neighbours got suspicious as she had not opened the door. They entered the house and found her body dead. Selvapuram police station investigating the case found that she had bled from her nose and ears. It is believed that culprits had also broken open the cupboard and escaped with 17 sovereigns of gold jewellery.

Sniffer dogs and finger print experts visited the crime site and collected evidence.
