Electoral rolls released for local body polls

Thanjavur district has a total voters strength of 18.90 lakh as per the electoral rolls of the local bodies released here today.

The total electorate comprise 9,30,117 men, 9,60,322 women and 54 transgenders.

Of this, the Thanjavur Corporation has 1,88,799 voters including 97,243 women and 4 transgenders, while the two municipalities (Kumbakonam and Pattukottai) in the district has 1,62,691 voters including 83,080 women and 18 transgenders.

The 22 town panchayats in the district has 2,35,756 voters including 1,19,912 women and 1 transgender while the 14 panchayat unions has 13,03,217 voters including 6,60,087 women and 31 transgenders.

District Collector A. Annadurai released the electoral rolls and handed over copies of the same to City Corporation Commissioner M. Varadarajan. District Revenue Officer P. Chandrasekaran and DRDA project director Manthirachalam were present.

At least 3,384 polling booths will be set up in the district for the local body polls, including 157 in Thanjavur corporation area, 178 booth in the two municipal areas, 368 in the town panchayats and 2,679 booths in the panchayat unions, an official release said.
