Equine Sports India Federation, in association with the Equestrian Federation of India, is set to organise the second edition of the Equestrian Champions League (ECL), one of India’s leading showjumping leagues, in Coimbatore from August 28 to 30,from 4 p.m.onwards.
The second season of the league was formally launched by Dr.Sundar Ramakrishnan, Coimbatore district equestrian association president Mentor Indigenous horse society Tamil Nadu & Managing Trustee, SNR Sons Charitable Trust, at a press conference held at Jenney Club in the city on Monday. The event was led by A.S.Sakti Balaji, President, Equine Sports India Federation.Bharath manoharan – Chennai bulls, Dilip – Bangalore Knights, Naveen – Golconda chargers, Krishna – Pegasus sports, Balamurugan – Elite equestrian.
The three-day national-level event will be held at the venue beside The Power House, Molapalayam, Coimbatore.
Speaking at the press conference,A.S. Sakti Balaji said that the Equestrian Champions League aims to provide a professional platform for leading riders to showcase their skills in showjumping and contribute to the growth of equestrian sport in India.
The second season will feature riders representing different states and regions across the country. The participating teams include Chennai Bulls representing Tamil Nadu, Pegasus Sports from Kerala, Golconda Chargers from Telangana, Bengaluru Knights representing Karnataka, Quantum Reigns from Goa and Elite Equestrians from West Bengal. The teams have brought together some of the country’s top-rated and accomplished equestrians, who will compete alongside their horses in the league.
The league will feature top riders including Bharath Manoharan, Soorya, Balamurugan, Shresth, Balaji Vijayashankar, Hashini, Avik Bhatia, Niel Kendal, Kiran, Harsyith and Aradhana.
The national-level showjumping competition will be conducted in two categories — 100cms, 110 cm and 120 cm. The performances will be evaluated by Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI)-approved judges from New Delhi & Course designer from Sharjah. The league will offer a total prize purse of Rs.30 lakh.
The inaugural ceremony will be held on August 28 and will be graced by a Ministers from the Government of Tamil Nadu as the Chief Guest. The event will also be attended by a Member of Parliament, along with celebrities, business leaders and prominent personalities from Coimbatore. The closing ceremony and awards presentation will feature another distinguished Chief Guest, along with leading members of the equestrian and sporting fraternity.
The venue beside The Power House at Molapalayam has a seating capacity of around 6,000 people. Arrangements have been made for essential amenities, including toilets, drinking water facilities, security and food kiosks, to ensure a comfortable experience for visitors.
Launched in 2024, the Equestrian Champions League completed its inaugural season in July 2025. The league was created to bring together some of the finest equestrian talent in the country and provide audiences with an engaging platform to experience competitive showjumping.
Following the successful completion of its first season, ECL Season 2 is set to take the competition to the next level, bringing together leading riders and horses for three days of competitive showjumping. The league aims to further strengthen the visibility of equestrian sport in India while providing riders with a professional platform to showcase their talent.
The three-day event is expected to offer an action-packed sporting experience for equestrian enthusiasts, animal lovers, families and the general public. To encourage greater public participation and promote equestrian sports, entry to the event will be free.
With some of India’s leading riders and horses set to compete, the second edition of the Equestrian Champions League is expected to be a major attraction for sports enthusiasts in Coimbatore and provide a platform to showcase the growing popularity and potential of showjumping in India.
