The Tirupur Exporters Association (TEA) today thanked the Union Commerce Minister, Nirmala Seetharaman for including the countries placed under Group C to qualify for the MEIS (Merchandise Export from India Scheme) rewards.

According to the letter from the TEA President, A Shaktivel, to Nirmala Seetharaman, the announcement made through a DGFT public notice yesterday, was a positive measure in increasing the competitiveness of the products being exported to Group C countries.

“This will qualify knitwear garments exports to countries like Australia and New Zealand for a 2 percent reward rate, and we can increase our market share in these countries,” the letter said.

“Since all the 239 countries are now under the beneficiary list, there is no need to submit landing certificate and the announcement will be an added advantage to the exporting units,” Shaktivel said.
