Three persons, impersonating as police officials, were arrested on Thursday, during a vehicle check in the city. They had been robbing people.

Based on complaints by the public that policemen were involved in cheating and robbing valuables, City Police Commissioner, A.K. Vishwanathan had formed special teams to nab the culprits, police said.

When police stopped a car in Selvapuram in the morning for checking, one person managed to escape from it, they said.

Police nabbed three persons sitting inside the car and recovered two pairs of khaki uniforms from the vehicle. Preliminary inquiry revealed that they confessed that they used to cheat people of their valuables at lonely places.
