The annual Vodafone Coimbatore Marathon is to be held on October 1. Started in 2013, the marathon has become a prestigious event with large public participation to become the second largest sporting event in Tamil Nadu and the largest in Coimbatore. Last year, there were around 13,000 participants from and outside Coimbatore. These included students and corporates.

The marathon is a major fund raiser to support many activities of the Coimbatore Cancer Foundation (CCF) of the GKNM Hospital. Since 26 years, CCF has been adding value to the lives of economically weaker cancer patients and also promoting a healthy lifestyle as a means to build awareness and prevent cancer. The proceeds from the last four marathons helped CCF to financially support many cancer patients, especially children.

The registration fee for Half Marathon (21.1 km) is Rs 800, for 10km Rs 80 and for 5 km run/walk Rs 550.

Registration closes on August 31.

Every participant gets a Tshirt, a downloadable certificate, a medal upon finishing, breakfast on the race day.

Besides, it is an opportunity to be part of the cause aimed at creating cancer awareness and helping people adopt a healthy lifestyle.
