Former Calcutta High Court Judge, C S Karnan was arrested here today. Karnan, who was evading arrest for the last 45 days, was arrested from a private resort in Malumichampatti on the outskirts, by a team of police from Kolkata, police sources said.

Supreme Court has awarded six month imprisonment to him for contempt of court and Kolkatta police team was on his trail since May 10.

According to a top police official, Karnan was staying in a private resort on Pollachi Road for the last few days.

Three teams from Kolkatta and West Bengal were camping here for the last three days and traced him using his mobile calls.

The city police have given the technical support to trace the whereabouts of Karnan, the official said.

Karnan has argued with the police teams and resisted the arrest. However, he was taken into custody and will be taken to Kolkatta via Mumbai or Chennai, the official said.
