Four-day inter-collegiate tournament to begin from September 26

Around 4,000 students from 151 Universities and colleges are expected to participate in the Karunya-Evangeline South India level Inter-collegiate tournament beginning here from September 26.

The best college and university teams from all over Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, represented by 345 teams will
battle it out for honours during the four day tourney.

All the matches, barring football and hockey will be played under floodlights and Volleyball, Kabaddi and Basketball events will be open to both men and women, while the football and hockey events will be exclusively for men.

Besides rolling trophies the winners and runners will received cash prize of Rs 15,000, Rs.10,000 and Rs.7,000 and individual prizes and certificates will be given to teams in fourth paces.

The tournament is organized by the Staff, Students and Alumni of the Karunya University to commemorate the life of late Sister Evangeline, the only daughter of the Founder Late Dr.D.G.S.Dhinakaran and sister of Chancellor Dr.Paul Dhinakaran.

International Basketball Player and Indian Basketball Girls Team Coach Jeena Zachariah will inaugurate the tournament September 27,
while Dr.Jacob Thomas Director General, Institute of Management in Government (Former DGP) will be the Chief Guest on concluding day and distribute the awards and prizes.
