Alliance Air, the regional arm of Air India, started four daily return flights from Chennai to Tiruchi, Vijayawada, Madurai and Coimbatore from Wednesday.
These flights have become possible because the airline’s management decided to base one ATR 72-600 aircraft in Chennai, a senior airline official said.
The four new flights have been put into the reservation system and passengers can now make bookings for flying these routes, officials said.
The Chennai-Coimbatore flight would leave Chennai at 6.50 p.m. and reach Coimbatore at 8.15 p.m. After a halt of 30 minutes, it would depart for Chennai where it would land at 10.05 p.m.
Former President of Chamber of Commerce Nandakumar, Managing Director of Krishnaveni Carbon Ravichandran and several others participated in the inaugural function at the city airport.
