Ever since the KPR IAS Academy established its coaching centre in 2011, it has trained over 1,000 students, free of cost. The academy, located in R.S. Puram, offers training for those who are interested in appearing for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and Indian Police Service (IPS) exams, and provides coaching for the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC), bank exams, Railway Recruitment Board (RRB), and the Staff Selection Commission (SSC), among other competitive exams.

We are told that about 150 students who underwent training at the academy are placed as clerks in public sector banks. Some of them are employed by the Indian Railways, India Post, and National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD).

Currently, the centre operates from two buildings owned by the KPR Mills. There are about 400 students who are undergoing training for various exams. The academy has employed 10 professionals who work as full-time staff. Depending on the requirements, the academy also employs professionals on part-time basis too.

In order to encourage students from out of Coimbatore to utilize the free coaching, the KPR IAS Academy is offering free accommodation facilities for all outstation women candidates. “The women candidates who are not from Coimbatore are accommodated in the hostel owned and run by the KPR Mills Group, free of cost. Mess facility is available for a nominal fee for men and women,” A. Gunesekar, Coordinator of KPR IAS Academy, shares.

In order to support the students with books for reference, the academy has also set up an in-house library. We are told that this library can also be accessed by those who are not enrolled at this academy. Men candidates can access this library 24 hours. This library has about 2,000 books that students can refer.

KPR IAS Academy is an initiative of the KPR Mills group. The long-cherished desire of the promoters of KPR Group of imparting knowledge through education to the society led to the formation of KPR Charities. K.P. Ramasamy serves as the Managing Trustee, KPD Sigamani and P. Nataraj are the trustees.
