GEM Cancer Centre, part of Coimbatore GEM Hospital one of Tamil Nadu’s leading hospitals has treated hundreds of cancer patients. Every year on September 22nd, “Rose Day” is celebrated to encourage society to show support and affection toward cancer patients.
At today’s Rose Day event organized by the GEM Cancer Centre, over 100 patients undergoing treatment and cancer survivors participated. Dr.Bharath Rangarajan, Director of GEM Cancer Centre, delivered the welcome address. Following this, Dr. Praveen Raj, CEO of GEM Hospitals, highlighted the modern treatment facilities available at GEM Cancer Centre.
Dr.C.Palanivelu, Chairman of GEM Hospitals, shared insights from his 50-year journey of treating cancer patients. He reminisced about the milestones and motivations that inspired him to specialize in laparoscopic surgery.
The Chief Guest,K.S.Srigiri Prasad, MLA for the Singanallur constituency in Coimbatore, delivered an inspiring speech encouraging cancer survivors and their caregivers.He noted that cancer treatment has advanced significantly over the past 15 years, enabling many patients to overcome this deadly disease. He emphasized the importance of recognizing early symptoms of cancer and seeking timely medical care.
Following his address, special guest K. Krishnapriya,Chief Educational Officer (CEO) of the district, delivered an encouraging speech to the participating patients and launched a free mammogram screening scheme for female government school teachers at GEM Cancer Centre. Finally, Dr. Sivakumar, Head of Surgical Oncology, delivered the vote of thanks.
