Girl complains sexual abuse by cop

A complaint was lodged by a 15-year old girl at the All Women Police Station, Gandhipuram, that she was beaten and sexually abused by Grade I Constable Kamalanathan, working in CB CID. The girl had been working in his house.

The police have filed an FIR and are investigating further. Kamalanathan, working in the counterfeit notes wing of the CB CID is staying with his family in the police quarters in the PRS campus at Coimbatore. The 15-year old girl from Sathyamangalam had complained to the neighbour that she was regularly beaten and sexually abused by Kamalanathan on the pretext that she not working properly.

On the neighbour’s advice she had lodged a complaint with the All Women Police Station at Gandhipuram.

On the basis of the complaint, investigation is being made in the B4 Police Station. The girl further alleged that Kamalanathan’s wife blamed her for filing a wrong complaint and threatened her to withdraw the complaint.

As a result, the All India Democratic Women’s Association members picketed B4 Police Station demanding the immediate arrest of the cop who sexually abused the girl child. They condemned the police force for indulging in such acts, when they were meant to safeguard children.

They also urged the City Police Commissioner and the Inspector, B4 PS, to allow the AIDWA members to talk to the girl child.
