Havildar on duty in checkpost injured as speeding car hits

A member of the Tamil Nadu Special Police battalion suffered a fracture in his leg when a speeding car hit him at the Velandavalam check post on Wednesday night.

According to police, A. Senthil Kumar (31) from Bhavani, a Havildar attached to the C Company, TSP IV battalion, Coimbatore, was posted at the checkpost at Velandavalam check post along with a Sivasamy, a constable from the same battalion and and Kaliappan, Special Sub-Inspector, Madukkarai.

While Senthil Kumar and Sivasamy were checking the vehicles crossing the check post, a speeding car on its way to Othakalmandapam Road hit him. Senthil Kumar suffered a fracture in his left leg and a minor injury in his head. He was rushed to a private hospital.

Police immediately secured the car driver, Manjunathan of Sulur and registered a case agains him under Sections 279 and 337 of IPC.
