Hearing of libel case against DMK activist posted to Feb 3

Thanjavur: The Principal and District Sessions Court here today posted the next hearing of the libel case against DMK Headquarters Speaker to February 3.

A Kuppusamy, public prosecutor, had filed the libel case against DMK Headquarters Speaker ‘Aduthurai’ Uthirapathy (45), resident of Chettimandapam in Kumbakonam, for allegedly making defamatory remarks against the then Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa during a public meeting held at Pookkara Street here in 2014. The public meeting had been organised by the DMK in connection with the celebration of its President M Karunanidhi’s birthday.

When the case came up for hearing in the Principal and District Sessions Court today, Uthirapathy appeared in the court. Judge Nakkheeran posted the next hearing of the case to February 3.
