‘India’s economy will compete with US economy in 2030’

COIMBATORE: India’s economy is growing and in 2030 it will compete with that of the United States, according to T.N. Manoharan, Chairman, Canara Bank.

Addressing the 92nd Founders Day celebrations of PSG Sons and Charities at PSG College of Arts and Science here on Thursday, he said while the 19th and 20th centuries belonged to Europe and America respectively, 21st century belonged to India.

Manoharan said the Indian economy should grow to the level that people from the US should queue in front of Indian Consulates and Embassy in their country seeking visas for India. “The value of one US dollar should become equivalent to one rupee,” he said.

During the function, outstanding alumni from different PSG Institutions were honoured.

Dr. Swaytha Ganesh, Medical Director, Living Donor Liver Transplant, UPMC, USA was honoured with outstanding alumni award, along with D. Venkatapathy, Director, Prasanna Exports, G. Rajendran, MD, CRI Pumps, R. Kumaravelu, MD, Aquasub Engg Group, Ravi Sam, MD, Adwaith Lakshmi industries, and K Shyam Sundar, CEO, Air India Express.
