Action for Rural Rejuvenation, (ARR) the brainchild of Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, is a multi-pronged, multi-phased, holistic, outreach programme whose primary objective is to improve the overall health and quality of life of the rural poor. This project was launched in August 2003, under the aegis of Isha Foundation.
In the last five years, nearly 33 projects have been carried out across four regions – Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Puducherry and Kerala. It has reached 4,686 villages and assisted over seven million people.
One of the projects of this foundation is the Isha Gramotsavam Cup. Recently, the second round of the volleyball competition was organized at Devarayapuram. Eight teams participated and in the final clash Mathuvarayapuram team emerged victorious against their Sangampalayam counterparts. In the final round of throw ball for women the Isha Vidhya team lost to Devarayapuram team despite putting up a tough fight.
The crowd that gathered to witness the matches was thoroughly entertained. Some of the people were from far off villages, yet they visited the venue to cheer and motivate their local team.
The venue for this event was the Government school grounds in Devarayapuram.
Volleyball matches are being organized in Tiruchy, Cuddalore, Tirunelveli, Thiruvannamalai, Madurai and Vellore districts. Two teams will be chosen to play against each other in the finals that will be organized at CODISSIA grounds on September 4.
