Jamaat-E-Islami Hind to organize marathon run

The Jamaat-E-Islami Hind is organising a marathon in Coimbatore on November 1, to raise awareness among youngsters about the evils of toxic addictions and obscenity. The marathon is part of the ‘Health Living Awareness Campaign,’ being conducted by the Jamaat from October 2 onwards.

District Collector Archana Patnayak will flag off the marathon, to be held in the 4 and 7 kilometres category, in the presence of the Corporation Commissioner Dr. Vijay Karthikeyan and Deputy Commissioner of Police, Ramya Bharthi.

Also part of the campaign were events to create awareness among people about the importance of maintaining good health, and to stay away from toxic addictions such as liquor, drugs, and also from obscenity that were causing serious damage to both the moral well-being of the society.

Various NGOs and service organizations like Siruthuli, RAAC, Shanthi Ashram, Lead India, Students Islamic Organization of India, and the Youth Foundation are participating in the run.
