“Karunanidhi stands for corruption; corruption stands for Karunanidhi. Now he has formed a corrupt alliance with the Congress, which will be ousted by the people” – this is one of Jayalalithaa’s mightiest weapons in her poll rallies. Though such accusations against Karunanidhi are not new, Jayalalithaa explains in her campaigns why they are true.

The leader, who has been listing the unfulfilled promises of the DMK during its 2006-2011 regime, to counter the latter’s allegations of AIADMK’s unfulfilled manifesto, explained a few more points during her campaign in Coimbatore, on Sunday. The AIADMK supremo was here to campaign for the 23 party candidates from Coimbatore, Tirupur, Nilgris and Kerala.

“During its previous rule, in 2006-2011, the DMK had announced that it would set up a zone-wise botanical board, botanical training centre, provide food export, conduct elections for cooperative banks, set up solar lights in villages, construct underground power lines in villages, set up cable car facilities in the Nilgris, Yercaud and Kodaikanal, and provide hostel fee tuition fee for SC/ST students in self-financed colleges. But they have miserably failed to do them,” she alleged.

Claiming that the DMK has only fulfilled promises that had benefitted Karunanidhi’s family, Jayalalithaa also added that people should chase away the candidates of the DMK alliance while they come for campaigning.

“You should know that it was indeed this Jayalalithaa who fulfilled all her promises for the welfare of the people,” said the AIADMK chief.

Pointing out the various scams allegedly carried out by the DMK-Congress alliance, Jaya also said that the 2G scam, the VVIP helicopter scam, the scams revealed by the Sarkaria Commission that lead to the dismissal of the DMK government, and the Granite scam were carried out by the alliance previously.

Jaya also said that she would announce many more welfare schemes for the public if they reelect her to power in the coming election.
