Continuing its poll alliance with the BJP, Kongunadu Jananayaka Katchi (KJK) will contest over 100 seats in the local body elections across the Western districts of Tamil Nadu, its founder-president, G.K. Nagaraj said today.
After discussions held with former MP and Coir Board Chairman, C.P. Radhakrishnan and State BJP general secretary, Vanati Srinivasan, the party was allotted two seats in the 100-ward Coimbatore City Corporation, Nagaraj told reporters here.
The party had contested from two seats in the last assembly polls in BJP alliance and percentage of votes was considerably increased, he said.
Accordingly, KJK will contest from 35 and 36 wards, where party’s Women’s wing secretary, Krishnaveni and Youth wing secretary, Arun respectively will file their nominations, he said.
Similarly, a list of nearly 100 wards in Dharmapuri, Salem, Erode, Namakkal, Tirupur, Coimbatore, Nilgiris districts were given to BJP, which will be contested under BJP’s Lotus symbol, he said.
