Coimbatore : Lakhs worth automobile spare parts and oil in a godown were gutted in a fire that broke out in a two floor building in nearby Salem, even eight fire tenders toiling hard to put off the fire for the last five hours.
The fire was noticed around 7.30 am in the first floor of the building where spare parts and engine oil barrels and cans were stored at Mittapudur area, police sources said.
On information, eight fire tenders reached the area are fighting to put off the fire, which is coming under control, if not not fully extinguished, they said.
Senior police and fire and Rescue Department officials are on the site to oversee the operations and no no one is injured in the mishap, the reason for which is being ascertained, they said.
Though nearly Rs two crore worth spare parts and oil are said to be stored stored in the godown, the actual loss is being estimated, police added.
