Puthiya Tamizhagam president K. Krishnasamy today urged the Union and Tamil Nadu Governments to intervene and find a solution to the lawyers agitation that has been on for the last two months over the amendment to the Advocates Act.

Talking to mediapersons here, Krishnasamy said the agitation intensified after the Bar Council suspended 126 advocates, without seeking any explanation. “Even those who were not actively involved in the strike were also suspended, including the party’s youth wing secretary, S Bhaskar Madhuram, due to personal enmity,” he added.

Urging the Centre and State governments to intervene and bring an end to the agitation and also revoke the suspension, Krishnasamy said that the Governments should also take efforts to see that the amended Act was withdrawn.
