Lifer for murdering jeweller in Tirupur

Tirupur: A district court in Tirupur today sentenced a man to undergo life imprisonment for murdering a jeweller two years ago.

The prosecution case was that one Prabhu had attacked the jeweller Selvam and looted Rs.35 lakh worth gold ornaments and in the process killed him on July 4, 2015.

The case was going on in Second Additional District court and delivering the judgment, Judge A Mohmed Jiyaputheen sentenced Prabhu to undergo life sentence for the murder and seven year imprisonment for the theft.

The sentence will run concurrently. The judge also imposed a fine of Rs.15,000 for committing the offences.
