Load man murder: Father, son sentenced to life

Thanjavur: The District Sessions Court here sentenced a load man and his son to life imprisonment for murdering another load-man in 2015.
According to prosecution, Ramesh (47), a load man, resident of Marudhapattinam area, and his son Sudhan (20) waylaid Loganathan (32) and hacked him to death on April 18, 2015. Previous enmity between Ramesh and Loganathan, also a load man, residing at Vandikkara Street in Tiruvarur, was said to be the reason behind the murder.
On the fateful day, Loganathan was riding his bicycle on the Old Nagai Road when he was waylaid and hacked to death by the father-son duo. Tiruvarur town police registered a case and arrested them.
The trial was conducted at the District Sessions Court in Tiruvarur. Judge Srinivasan, who heard the case, found both Ramesh and Sudhan guilty of the charges.
Delivering his verdict in the case on Friday, the judge ordered the two to undergo life imprisonment. He also slapped a fine of Rs 6,100 on Ramesh and Rs 5,100 on Sudhan.
