Kochi: Malayalam movie ‘Drishyam’ which made waves across the Indian film industry is to soon have a Chinese remake.
The film, adapted in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi, has already entertained Sri Lankan film buffs.
Producer Perumbavoor Antony and director Jeethu Joseph visited China in connection with sale of rights to a production house there, Jeethu announced through social media.
Made at an investment of Rs 5 crore, the fetched over Rs 70 crore globally. It won the credit of becoming the first Malayalam movie to break Rs 50-crore mark.
Industry sources feel it will open a new chapter in Indian film industry.
With Aamir Khan’s ‘Dangal’ becoming a hit in China, Drishyam was likely to go the same way, they said.
