Man drowns in Bhavani

A 40-year-old man, who went for fishing, drowned in Bhavani river near Mettupalayam.

According to sources, Ayub Khan of Bangaru Layout near Upplipalayam, went for fishing along with his friend Farooq on Sunday. The two were under the influence of alcohol, police said.

However, Farooq returned home after receiving a phone call from a relative. After Farooq returned, Ayub went for swimming, during which time he drowned.

On Monday, Ayub’s body was discovered. Smudge police rushed to the spot, recovered the body and sent it for post mortem. In another incident, an unidentified person’s body was found in a decomposed state in the Bhavani river on Tuesday. Mettupalayam police recovered the body and sent it for post mortem. A case has been registered.
