The Mahila Court here today sentenced a man to life imprisonment for murdering his paramour in her house in Annur, about 35 kms north-east of here, some four year ago.

The prosecution case was that the deceased, Palaniammal, 40, had an illicit affair with the accused Raja alias Mayilsamy, 47, since her husband had left her and was working in Kerala, a few years ago.

However, on the sudden return of her husband Rajendran, Palaniammal refused to entertain Raja and asked him not to trouble her again, as she wanted to live with her husband.

Angered over this, Raja entered the house of Palaniammal and killed her with a sickle on May 12, 2011.

Judge G Raja today ordered Raja to undergo life imprisonment and imposed a Rs 5,000 fine.
