Masked men attack asst professor, decamp with jewels

Two masked men attacked an assistant professor with a wooden log and decamped with jewellery weighing 11 sovereign last night here.

Manjula, residing at North Street in Pillaiyarpatti and working as assistant professor at Periyar Maniammai University (PMU), went to the backyard of her house to hang wet clothes on the clothesline when the two hit her with a wooden log and escaped with her chain, ring and bangles.

Based on her complaint, the Tamil University police have registered a case.
