MBBS, BDS admission counselling: Second phase from Sept 21

The second phase of counselling for MBBS and BDS courses would be held between September 21 and 24 at Omandurar Government Multi Super Speciality Hospital at Anna Salai, Chennai. The first phase for seats in government medical colleges and self-financing colleges (under government quota) was held between June 20 and 25.

A total of 2,379 seats in government medical colleges and 85 seats in dental college were filled. Similarly 470 seats were filled in private colleges.

The second phase of counselling would be conducted to fill up the seats in both government and private colleges. Currently a total number of seven MBBS seats are vacant in Government Medical College and 122 seats in private colleges.

On the other hand, a total of 12 BDS seats are vacant in Chennai Government Dental College and 970 in private colleges. Apart from the above mentioned vacant seats, 397 MBBS and 15 BDS seats are reserved under All India Quota.

According to the Medical Council of India rules,all the medical seats should be filled up by September 30. The Central Government has mentioned that it was not mandatory to conduct medical admissions based on NEET marks this year.
