COIMBATORE: Over 300 members of Midday Meals Employees Association staged a demonstration at the collectorate here on Monday demanding fulfillment of their demands.

Their demands included Rs. 9,000 family pension, maternity leave for nine months for women and retirement benefit of Rs. 5 lakh to organisers, Rs. 3 lakh to cooks and assistants.

The employees, majority of them women, covered their eyes with black ribbons and raised slogans. They sought the implementation of their demands by June 7. They also submitted a memorandum to the Collector.

“If the Government fails to fulfill out demands, around one lakh employees will meet in Chennai and present our demands to the Chief Minister on July 7,” they said.
