Coimbatore : Union Minister of State for Finance Pon Radhakrishnan on Thursday saw a ‘master plan to destroy the hill shrine Sabarimala in Kerala’.

Sharing his experience at the shrine yesterday, where he was stopped by Kerala police, under the pretext of anticipated landslide, Radhakrishnan told reporters here that police did not show humanity.

With barricades en route, it appeared as a battle field, he said, adding that under the pretext of preventing anti-socials, devotees were being harassed.

“This type of inhuman behaviour is not acceptable. They did not show humanity,” he alleged and added that police were seen moving with footwears on, leading to suspicion of a plan to destroy the sanctity of the shrine.

“It seems there is a master plan to destroy the temple, as with these restrictions, the Government wanted no devotees to come,” he said, adding that the temple was not the property of the Government, simply because it was under its control. The body language of the Superintendent of Police was different, he said

“We will think about it, was his reply to a question whether he would approach the court over yesterday’s incident. If this is the situation for me, what would be the fate of the common man,” he asked.

There is no proper facility for devotees also, he said. Cases were being registered against those who were holding lamps and singing hymns, he added.
