Despite the awarding of tenders to redo damaged roads leading to Trichy Road from Neelikonampalayam and ESI Varadharajapuram, no work has been initiated so far causing hardship to people, Singanallur legislator N Karthik alleged today.

The roads were dug to lay drinking water and underground drainage long ago and tenders awarded were to the tune of Rs 75 lakh and Rs 58 lakh to relay the roads more than six month ago, Karthik said.

This resulted in lot of hardship both to motorists and pedestrians over a 5-km stretch.

Complaints fell on deaf ears and corporation officials and the Special Officer failed to act, he added.

A senior official, when contacted said the repairs would be delayed as the corporation was digging trenches to lay drinking water pipelines, Karthik said. He added that he would intensify his agitation with the supporter
of locals if the corporation did not take up works on a war footing.
