Taking a dig at the controversy that erupted during the flood relief measures, the Prime Minister remarked that his name or pictures did not appear on the rice bags that were distributed in Tamil Nadu.

“My name or picture is not there on the rice bags, which is being cooked in the utensils of poor people”, he said, referring to the pictures of the state Chief Minister that were printed on the relief material by her party members. He pointed out that the centre gives Rs.27 as subsidy for the rice distributed through the public distribution system in the state during the floods.

Addressing an election rally in Kanyakumari, he said that the Centre is taking steps to set up a seaport in Colachel, at a cost of Rs.21,000 crores. “This will provide job opportunities to youth, especially in Kanyakumari,” he said.

Alleging that the people who ruled Tamil Nadu were corrupted, Modi claimed that in the past two years, there was no corruption at the centre.
