The All India Trade Union Congress has called for a one-day nationwide strike against various policies to be implemented by the central government, including privatization of public sector enterprises.

In support of the nationwide strike by the trade unions, the Bank Officers Association held an agitation in front of Bank of Baroda’s main branch near the railway station. The protesters raised slogans against the centre.

Speaking to the media, M.V. Rajan, General Secretary of the All India Bank Employees Association, said, that there are more than 200 branches in and around Coimbatore city with transactions of more than Rs.200 crores per day.
