A little over 100 youths and students were arrested today, when they attempted to stage picketing and rail roko in the city, seeking exemption to Tamil Nadu students from NEET, as a justice to the medical aspirant Anitha, who had committed suicide in Ariyalur.

About 40 activists, belonging to some students associations and social organisations were physically lifted and taken into the van, who were lying on the road.

They raised slogans against both the Centre and State governments and held them responsible for the suicide.
Meanwhile, a group of SDPI workers proceeded to the Railway station to block the train, which was however, foiled by police.

Similar agitations seeking to exempt NEET were held at some four to five places, where a few activists of various associations were arrested.
