TNCC President, E V K S Elangovan today blamed the negligence of officials for the death of Sasi Perumal, who was fighting for the cause of prohibition in Tamil Nadu.
On getting information, the officials, including police, should have prevented Perumal from climbing up or made an attempt to bring him down, which could have averted the death, Elangovan told reporters here.
As a mark of respect, the flags will fly half mast in all the Congress offices in the State for three days, he said.
It was very much possible to impose prohibition, as there was total prohibition in the State during Cognress rule, he emphasised.
To a question on hanging of Yakub Memon, he said that he welcomed it, since the persons, who conspired to kill hundreds of people, should meet with such fate.
To another question on the performance of Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Elangovan said that people were of the opinion that he was not on a par with Congress Home Minister P. Chidambaram.
