A non-governmental organization has petitioned the District Collectorate to suggest the state government to name the flyover near Gandhipuram after Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam.
In the petition addressed to District Collector Archana Patnaik, J.D. Socrates, the founder of the Social Awareness Movement has stated that the life and achievements of the former President of India have inspired people, especially students all over the country. As a mark of respect to him, the flyover, which is being constructed between Sathy Road and Dr. Nanjappa Road near Gandhipuram, should be named after Kalam.
“The District Administration should suggest the state government to name the flyover after Kalam. This will ensure that his legacy will be passed on to the future generations,” Socrates said.
