Union Commerce Minister Nirmala Sitharaman today denied that the Centre was meting out step motherly treatment to Non-BJP States.

Replying to a specific question in this regard, Nirmala told reporters here that Narendra Modi Government wanted to take the country on a developmental path and for this all States should be developed.

There was no truth in that the Government was partial towards BJP-ruled States as far as development was concerned and it was cooperating with all the States, she said.

Nirmala, here to campaign for BJP candidates contesting for the Assembly elections, said that she would not commit anything on the tea prices or problems of Small and Medium Enterprises, since it would be against the Model Code of Conduct.

Stating that both the DMK and AIADMK, which ruled Tamil Nadu for the last 50 years, failed to work for the benefit of the people of the State, Nirmala said that her party would implement total prohibition if voted to power.
